The whole family loved this! My 6 year old son kept saying how much he liked it and even had a huge second helping. This is an easy repeat meal for sure!
- 1 1/2 lbs flap/hanger/flank/skirt steak, sliced thin against the grain
- 1 tbsp coconut aminos
- 1 tbsp vegetable or beef broth
- 3 tbsp vegetable or beef broth
- 3 tbsp coconut aminos
- 1/2 tsp coconut oil, melted
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp ginger, grated or minced
- 1 tsp arrowroot flour
- 1 tsp honey
- 1 tsp coconut oil or sesame oil (sesame oil is not paleo)
- 1 large head of broccoli, cut into bite size pieces
- 2 tbsp coconut oil, divided
- 1 tbsp red pepper flakes
*Optional toppings: sesame seeds, chopped green onion*
Combine sliced steak, broth and coconut aminos in a bowl and toss to evenly coat. Let sit at room temperature for 15-30 minutes while you prepare the rest of the meal.
Combine all of the ingredients for the Garlic Sauce in a bowl and whisk well to combine. Set aside.
Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add one tbsp coconut oil. Place beef in a single layer, allowing it to fry untouched for 1-2 minutes, flip and fry for an additional 1-2 minutes until both sides are browned. Place in a bowl and set aside.
Add 1 tbsp of coconut oil to the same pan and once melted add your broccoli and red pepper flakes (I added my red pepper flakes once I plated the food so it wouldn't be too spicy for the kids). Saute of one minute. Add 2 tbsp of water, cover with a lid and let cook for about 30 seconds. Remove the lid and let cook for an additional 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add steak back to the pan as well as the garlic sauce. Toss well to make sure everything gets coated with the sauce. Cook until sauce begins to thicken.
Remove from heat, plate, and top with sesame seeds, green onion or additional red pepper flakes. Enjoy!
