Blackened Shrimp and Asparagus Salad

This salad is spicy, flavorful and full of protein!  The dressing is the perfect complement to this delicious salad.


Serves: 2

  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp ground basil
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tsp fresh ground pepper
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 1 lb asparagus, cut into thirds
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 4 cups lettuce
  • 1 avocado, cubed
  • 1/4 red onion, sliced thin
  • 1 handful fresh basil leaves


  • 1/3 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tsp lemon pepper
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp water
  • salt and pepper to taste


Combine peeled shrimp in a medium bowl and toss with spices.  

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and drizzle with olive oil.  Once heated, add shrimp and asparagus and saute for about 5 minutes, making sure to turn asparagus so they start to brown on both sides.  

Combine dressing ingredients in a small bowl and whisk until well combined. 

Put lettuce, sliced onion, avocado and basil in salad bowls and top with shrimp and asparagus.  Drizzle dressing on top and toss to evenly coat.
